Tenebrae Service at St. Martin of Tours

Choral Tenebrae at St. Martin of Tours
Good Friday at 7pm, April 10, 2020
Lasts about an hour and a half

St. Martin of Tours is known for its Choral Tenebrae Service on Good Friday.  People who have come to this service are very moved by the readings and music.  We had several people from other parishes attend last year and they were so inspired by the service that they joined our choir, so they could participate this year.  We strongly suggest you attend the Tenebrae service on April 10th at 7 PM.   You’ll hear Gospel readings from the Passion accompanied by short but powerful music.  You may get a stronger sense of what Christ went through so that we might have eternal life with Him.

This is followed by unavailing a large cross, a communion service and then veneration of the cross where you may kneel, touch the cross and say a short prayer.

There is no charge but this is an embellished normal Good Friday service, so the baskets will be passed and all monies go to the the Pontifical Good Friday Collection which helps preserve sacred shrines in the Holy Land and Christians in the Holy Land.

Easter seems to get all the glory, but that is only a fraction of the whole story.  We hope you can make it.

Tenebrae is Latin for Darkness and the music setting we use is Service of Shadows by Lani Smith
