Christmas 2017
ABOUT US:
St. Martin’s Women’s Club was one of the outstanding women’s clubs in the diocese of San Diego with an active membership of about 40 participants. However, since 2019 Covid, the active group members have not gotten back into official meetings (although a few members meet unofficially after Sunday Mass for coffee and donuts). Its goal was to serve God, the parish and the community; providing fellowship with social contacts, informational speakers, spiritual renewal and fundraisers for worthy causes and church/hall improvements.
If anyone wishes to revive this club, please contact the parish office at 619-465-5334.
2019 Officers
l to r: Ingeburg Morrison – Treasurer; Pat Kramm – President;
Veronica Rodriguez – V Pres & Secretary
MONTHLY MEETINGS:
The club met on the first Thursday of each month excluding July and August.
SPIRITUAL ACTIVITIES:
On the fourth Sunday of the month, the members attend as a group at the 11:00 a.m. Mass. Two members take up the Eucharistic gifts. Many of our members are Eucharistic Ministers. Members can help serve at funeral receptions for Women’s Club members and their families…..
PARISH SERVICE:
Service activities include assistance with church, flowers and sacristan responsibilities. Club members play an important part in the upkeep of the altar with volunteers cleaning and helping those who decorate the altar, care for the plants, change the Holy Water, and care for the altar cloths.
COMMUNITY SERVICE:
Through fundraising, the Women’s Club members help with the Parish. Yearly donations are made to various groups: Parish Food Bank, Fr. Sproul Fund (tuition assistance), CCD, Noah Homes, and Church/Hall improvements.
ACTIVITIES:
During the year, there were bus trips to local areas and Laughlin, Nevada. There was a bake sale in the spring and a white elephant sale in the fall. A luncheon/card party, including a silent auction, a raffle and a book sale, also occured in the fall.
